One half of a diptych going in a show at another tattoo shop/local artists gallery ... tomorrow. And I've yet to start the other half, but I made a double opening mat and frame so its got to get itself done.

[quote=comrad;115395]surely a fly is too small to work on?QUOTE]
Horrible, Comrad...simply horrible. Here's the whole thing. I went with an vertical display because I didn't make the figures the same size DSC01797_edited-1.jpg And here's the second one finished as it is. The skull didn't really pan out: it's supposed to look as if it shifted off the jaw when the kid touched it but it doesn't really quite get there. And the arm planted on the floor's too small. They'll both be getting redone as seperate pieces. DSC01793_edited-1.jpg This is the original sketch of the girl poking at the bird (which I've had buried in a pile of ideas for a dozen years) DSC01801_edited-1.jpg and I reworked the perspective to look like this DSC01802_edited-1.jpg but the finished piece didn't capture the gesture so I'll be doing it again....and again, until it gets done correctly. Which is another very good reason for me to be sticking with pulp based surfaces rather than skin for now. Or one of these days if you pass through my town you'll see people all over the place with the same tattoo; each one just a little better than the other |

The fly joke was awesome, whatcha talking about
I see what you mean about the skull, especially the size its hard to get those details to sit correctly or even if they are sat correctly too look right...but damn good tho mate, Like I said the biggest thing I look at with pieces is the lighting and shadows and you've done a cracking job mate! but as you know sometimes a thing just niggles you about a piece. What I do really like but only because its subtle is the reddish tint to the car/truck, its not in your face infact is barely noticable and for that looks beautiful. |

........... And ?
Aw David you are too hypercritical about your talent! Those drawings are deep and beautifully shaded, they are really quite enchanting. They hold a very good depth and have an intense character. Please take a pace back and look at them again - another time, even a day or so would help. Yes I agree with bettering ones talent ( I wish Sorry to tell you off x |
